Nightdancers: Breakdance Project Uganda and Tabu Flo

Meet Breakdance Project Uganda, crowdfunding on Buzzbnk for the opportunity of a lifetime… They’ve only got 12 days left of their campaign, and need your help to reach their target!

They’re a grassroots youth group that creates positive social change by teaching street-kids, AIDS orphans, ex-child soldiers and juvenile prisoners in Uganda how to flip, rock and windmill. And they’re good. Really good. So good in fact, that they’ve won every dance competition in Uganda since 2009.

They’ve formed a professional performance group called Tabu Flo, who with BPU have been teaching and performing break dance throughout Uganda, working with various government, community and faith based organizations, NGOs, artists and festivals.

Their goal is to bring dance to a new level of professionalism, talent and creativity in Uganda and to engage in dance on an international sphere, representing Uganda and Africa.

Now Tabu Flow have caught the eye of Jonzi D (rapper, dancer, choreographer and theatre director) who has invited them over to London to perform their new show ‘Nightdancers’ in Breakin’ Convention – the annual sell-out International festival of Hip Hop Dance Theatre held at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London.

For any breakdancer, this would be an amazing opportunity, but for the members of Tabu Flo and Breakdance Project Uganda, Jonzi D’s interest presents the opportunity of a lifetime.

Jonzi D isn’t the only one inspired by Tabu Flo and their performance of ‘Nightdancers’ at Breakin’ Convention; Still Films want to document Tabu Flo’s trip from Uganda to Britain and make a feature film documentary about them, following the breakdancers as they leave their homes in Kampala & travel to England to follow their dreams!
They need funds raised through Buzbnk to cover the costs of travel and production as the documentary crew follow Tabu Flo on this trip of a lifetime, and promote their work creating amazing dance as well as social change to an even wider audience.

Join Jonzi D and Still Films and be inspired by this incredible dance troupe too! Find out all about Breakdance Project Uganda and make this incredible opportunity a reality at www.buzzbnk.org/tabuflo
