Lemon-Aid: Save the Big Lemon!

We’re extremely proud to introduce our latest venture, The Big Lemon CIC, who need your help to SAVE THE BIG LEMON!

The Big Lemon is a bright yellow bus service in Brighton & Hove with a difference – they collect waste cooking oil from over 150 restaurants, hotels and schools and use it to power their fleet of 11 buses that provide great service at affordable prices, bringing the community together and using green energy!

Winners of the Dandelion Award for Sustainable Business and the Best Sustainability Initiative Award at Brighton & Hove City Council’s Public Service Awards, they’ve been on the roads since 2007 with regular services between Brighton and the universities of Brighton and Sussex. They have been pushing boundaries ever since they started operating with the aim to change community transport across the country for the better.

But now their service is under threat after a dramatic policy shift from their main competitor in the city of Brighton…

The Big Lemon have assembled a crack campaign team to run a fundraising and awareness campaign and, through Buzzbnk, they hope to raise enough money to save their service, secure something special for the future, and make sure there is a level playing field where all players compete fairly and legally.
